Innovative baggage handling

This study involves the development of an innovative baggage system that loads suitcases into containers in a way that maximises the use of the space available. The automated system, which works on the basis of ‘3D tetris for suitcases’, will also greatly reduce the amount of lifting required in the baggage basement.

Result

This project is completed within SIM and the baggage robot is now part of the Innovative Baggage Handling Area (IBHA) of Schiphol’s baggage department.
