Enhancing Traffic Guidance at Schiphol-Centre
This study involves the development of a new signage concept with the goal of making motorists more clearly aware of their options (Parking, departure hall, etc) and thereby realising more efficient use of the entry roads and car parks.
Aanpak
The study is based on interviews with Schiphol employees, traffic researches conducted on the airport and literature.
Part of the study aims at the layout of the screens that are situated above the road. The current traffic guidance is based on the world-famous screens that are found in the Terminal. The new traffic guidance, that has to be developed, is more based on the screens that our found on the Dutch highways (ANWB).
Results
Most of the results of the study are taken into account in a project of the Parking department of Schiphol. They will implement most of the recommendations from the research.
