There are various developments and issues concerning Schiphol which are of importance in the field of the environment and the quality of life in the surrounding area.
A condition for further development of the main port Schiphol is that the noise nuisance in the surrounding area and the environmental impact caused by emissions and water pollution must be limited. Innovation plays an important role in this. Within the theme of ‘Environment and quality of life in the surrounding area’, SIM investigates possibilities which focus on reducing the (perception of) nuisance in the region and which make a positive contribution towards the development of the main port. Aspects in this regard include noise, air emissions and water pollution.
